Q1. What are the components referred to as “domestic information technology”?
A1. They are: a computer, a router, a small UPS, several applications and services. The computer is the system that controls all domestic programming, the router is responsible for the communication and the UPS maintains and protects the system during power cuts. All together, they provide the functionality described in this site.
Q2. Can I dispense with any of them?
A2. No, they are all absolutely necessary for the functions announced here in the site.
Q3. Can I use them for other purposes?
A3. The router can offer communications and internet connection to other home devices and the UPS can supply power to other small devices, but the computer is dedicated to these proposes. The computer is provided without keyboard or screen.
Q4. What’s the warranty period?
A4. Each device has it’s own warranty period (6 months in some cases and 1 year for the most of them). All devices are made build and tested to be always on.
Q5. What to do with the hardware?
A5. The technology support is very discreet. Both (router and computer) are very small (computer: 23 x 5 x 20 cm, is router even smaller), they are completely silent and can (and should) be always switched on. They can be placed in areas usually not reachable as they don’t need any physical contact. For this reason, you don’t need a screen or a keyboard and these are therefore not provided.
